Nutritional Management of Chronic Kidney Disease in Cats

This course is designed to give you an overview of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in cats, including disease signs and diagnosis, related key nutritional factors, and nutritional management strategies. This course is worth 1.0 hour of CE credit. 

Course Information

Renal health is vital to a pet’s quality and length of life. Using a case study of a male cat Luke and his pet parent Marcus, this course leads you through an in-clinic annual examination session with Dr. Hill and veterinary nurse Ana. Learn about the routine health checks that enable Dr. Hill and Ana to discover Luke’s previously undetected CKD.

Using an engaging interactive format, this course will challenge you to watch for signs of renal disease, especially in senior feline patients. You will become more familiar with CKD, key diagnostic steps, key nutritional factors, and feeding strategies to help minimize disease impact.

This learning module is worth 1.0 hour of continuing education credit. A downloadable certificate will be available following successful completion of the course with a score of 70% or greater.

You will need a general understanding of how to manage a session with a pet and pet parent and an appreciation of feline health basics. Give yourself ample time to complete the course, ideally in a quiet, distraction-free setting. The course will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.

The course will give you an understanding of CKD signs, diagnosis, and nutritional management in cats. You will learn how to watch for potential signs of CKD and feel confident discussing renal care nutrition and feeding with pet parents to help improve quality of life for pets.
