Sun-A (Sun) Kim
DVM, MS, DACVB, PhDSun-A (Sun) Kim
DVM, MS, DACVB, PhDDr. Sun A Kim is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Behavioral Medicine at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Her journey into veterinary medicine began with a dream of becoming a dermatologist, inspired by her own Westie ‘Chorong’ and Miniature Schnauzer ‘Via’ who were frequent flyers at the dermatology clinic. However, a vivid encounter with fleas and maggots during an externship quickly steered her toward behavioral medicine.
Despite this shift, she maintains close collaborations with dermatology colleagues and has a strong interest in the interface between dermatologic disease, pain and behavior. Her clinical focus centers on diagnosing and treating behavioral concerns that co-occur with medical conditions and geriatric behavior disorders. Her research philosophy emphasizes bridging clinical practice and science by translating real-world clinical questions into immediately applicable resources for practitioners. Her long-term research interest lies in Cognitive Dysfunction.
She is the proud guardian of a skin-healthy Miniature Schnauzer (Via Jr.), a Bichon Frise (Luffy), and a bottle-raised DSH cat (Byul Davis). In her free time, she enjoys walking on forest trails and listening to the sound of water.
